Government authorities impose a self-isolation period of 14 days upon your return to Canada after travelling outside the country.
During this period, you cannot leave the location where you self-isolate, even if you don’t have any symptoms. Be sure to reschedule any non-essential appointments, avoid using public transit, get help with errands and avoid contact with others who have not travelled with you.
Your destination may also require you to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival. For more information, visit or contact the government health unit website for your destination.
Based on your destination and health status, health professionals at a specialized travel health clinic can determine what vaccinations you need against certain diseases.
They can also provide health advice for your stay and help you put together a complete first aid kit.
If you’ve purchased Québec Blue Cross® travel insurance, Travel Assistance staff can help you locate health care facilities at your destination and inform you of the quality and availability of the health care services offered there.
Please note that due to the COVID-19 crisis, resources to assist people in medical emergencies abroad are very limited and the availability of these services cannot be guaranteed.
Emergency repatriation is only covered if it is considered necessary and safe by the travel assistance medical team and the attending physician at the destination.
If you experience COVID-like symptoms, contact the Travel Assistance service of your travel insurance provider immediately. Travel Assistance staff will help you find a clinic where you can get tested or receive the care you need.
However, if you suffer from severe symptoms that require urgent attention, contact emergency services immediately. You can contact our Travel Assistance service once your situation has stabilized.
